The Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is one of the most amazing places in the world. Located in northern Kenya, the wildlife sanctuary covers more than 62,000 acres of savannah, and houses an impressive amount of wildlife. Through the land, visitors will find dozens of animals, including the “big five,” which are lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and African buffalo. It also has the largest population of Grevy’s zebras in the world, topping the charts at over 350. And luckily, the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy also has an Instagram account. Enjoy the incredible photos below.
Repost from @martinbuzora Kitui’s evening snack after a day spent roaming Lewa with his keepers and taking delightful mud baths! Please note his blanket; he sleeps with it every night. This little video has gotten so much love around the world in the past couple of days, we just had to share it here as well! Note: Kitui’s little pen is right next to his keepers’ room, and they check on him throughout the night. @instagram #rhinos #nature #wild #wildlife #beautiful #cute #love #animals #Lewa #lewawildlifeconservancy #WhyIlovekenya #Kenya #Africa A video posted by The Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (@lewa_wildlife) on Oct 27, 2015 at 9:20am PDT

Meet the unusual gerenuk! It has a big body, small head and long neck, resembling a miniature giraffe, but is actually a species of antelope belonging to the same family as the gazelle. Gerenuks use their long necks and strong hind legs to eat in an interesting way. They utilise their long necks to reach plants that grow high, some as tall as six to eight feet. They are also able to feed while standing straight up on their hind legs, using their forelegs to pull down tree branches. This is highly dissimilar from other antelopes who tend to eat from the ground. These three lovely gerenuks were spotted today at Lewa’s northern boundary by @sirikoilodge #gerenuk #wild #facts #interesting #wildlife #beautiful #animals #nature #naturelovers #safari #seetheworld #bestdestinations #Lewa #lewawildlifeconservancy #WhyIlovekenya #Kenya #Africa A photo posted by The Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (@lewa_wildlife) on Oct 18, 2015 at 5:35am PDT
Keeper Adan, pictured while feeding Kilifi, Nicky and Hope last year, says: We have hardly slept since Kilifi died. It’s been so devastating – we wake up often in the middle of the night to watch over the others babies, just to make sure they are fine. It is still so unbelievable. Nicky and Kilifi were such happy playmates, and we can tell that Nicky has realised something is wrong. Kilifi and the youngest baby Kitui had also become very close. We will miss Kilifi so so much, he was just like one of our own children. #RIPKilifi #Foreverinourhearts #Love #lewa #lewawildlifeconservancy A photo posted by The Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (@lewa_wildlife) on Aug 21, 2015 at 11:49pm PDT
Phenomenal News: Google Meets Northern Kenya’s Elephants! Thrilled to announce that Lewa is now on Google’s #StreetView in partnership with Google Africa, Save the Elephants (@ste_kenya) and The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (@dswt)! For the first time in Kenya, Google has launched its Street View technology to help raise global consciousness around elephants. It will provide panoramic views of individual elephants such as Cinnamon and Celery from the Spices Family that spend time on Lewa and Samburu. It also features stunning imagery from Lewa, the marathon route and the Mount Kenya Elephant Corridor! Ever wondered how a virtual safari on Lewa would look like? It is now simply a click away! Click on the link below and visit the Lewa imagery – http://www.google.com/maps/streetview/#samburu-kenya Note: This WILL NOT in any way aid poaching as Street View is a one time imagery that does not show constant updates of an animal’s location. It also does not reveal GPS coordinates of individuals. Along with Google and other partners, exhaustive research was carried out before the launch to ensure that the technology does not in any way put the elephants and other wildlife at risk. #Streetview #googleelephants #elephants #conservation #technology #Lewa #lewawildlifeconservancy #WhyIlovekenya #Kenya #Africa A photo posted by The Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (@lewa_wildlife) on Sep 15, 2015 at 9:57am PDT

Sonia’s latest calf has a name! Thanks to generous friends, the little rhino is now known as Subira, Kiswahili for patience. Seen here is Subira with her fiercely protective (and beautiful) mum, and a friendly bird! Looking for a special gift for a loved one?
