This 114-Year Old Woman Had To Lie About Her Age. You’ll Never Guess Why! October 16, 2016

Minnesota’s oldest resident, Anna Stoehr, had to lie about her age to join Facebook. The earliest birth year Facebook’s sign-up page offers is 1905, so she had to claim to be 99 years old even though she will be turning 114. She was born before her family had a telephone, car, or electricity, but she has become tech savy thanks to the help of a friend, Joseph Ramireza, a Verizon salesman. When Stoehr’s 85-year-old son, Harlan, came in to buy his mother an iPhone, Ramireza had to meet her. He’s been helping her to use FaceTime to video chat on her iPad, teaching her to use email and Google. Now she’s making new friends on an international website. Stoehr is proof that you’re never too old to learn something new.
