On Christmas Eve, I usually bake a batch of chocolate chip cookies. It isn’t truly Christmas for me without opening the oven door, taking in that gush of heat, and releasing the heavenly scent of my favorite dessert throughout the entire house. I smell of cookies the rest of the day with pride. I’m a creature of habit and will bake another dozen or so when the time comes, but I also plan on challenging myself to a larger project. Something a bit more creative. I’ve come across dozens of recipes, but have narrowed it down to just these twelve. Take a look at these delightful desserts. Some require no baking time at all while others may take several hours. Challenge yourself to one, or better yet, make one a day for the twelve days of Christmas.A simple project perfect for households with children. All you need are cookies, frosting, Nilla wafers, pretzels, red M&M’S, and white (mint) M&M’S for the eyeballs.

Enjoy this playful popcorn made with marshmallows and M&M’S while watching the film adaptation of How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

Though strawberries aren’t typically on my grocery list during the holidays, I adore how Tasty Kitchen has incorporated them into this dessert.

Some desserts look great and taste ‘okay’ at best. With a rich Oreo truffle center like this, you can bid your doubts and these snowmen goodbye.

Stress less with this simple combination of white chocolate chips, peppermint frosting, and peppermint Oreos.

Nothing’s better than a treat within a treat!

Pavlova is a meringue-based dessert popular in Australia and New Zealand during the holidays. This adaptation with raspberry coulis will make a stunning addition to any holiday party.

I’ve avoided dates since I was a child, but I would be more than happy to give them a try with this cake. Eva from ‘Adventures in Cooking’ cleverly garnished the cake with winterberry, Douglas fir, and pine, all from a Trader Joe’s bouquet. If you plan to do the same, don’t forget to remove these inedible additions before slicing!

The combination of soft gingerbread and ‘buttercreamy and tangy cream cheese frosting’ is holiday magic.

Don’t be fooled — this cake isn’t just a pretty little thing! With hidden layers of cheesecake, you will be all smiles with just one bite.

If you have the patience for this one – the gelatin bubbles require a bit of time – you can treat your loved ones (and yourself) to this special, handcrafted dessert. I’ve never seen anything like it (except perhaps an actual snow globe).

Well, well, well. Isn’t this one crafty? 500 points to you and your house if you can pull this one together!
