Some say that the bond between twins is far stronger than that between other siblings. Some may even describe their relationship as somewhat magical. Having a twin brother/sister is one of the best things that could happen to anybody. After all, they do everything together. They go to the same school, go to the same classes, perform the same activities and even share the same circle of friends. Not to forget, having a remarkable opportunity to mess with people’s head which is just priceless. We’ve all thought about it at least once what it would be like to have a twin like what shenanigans would you be up to and how would you fool the world into thinking you’re the other twin. But the same isn’t necessarily true for those poor parents who’d have to put up with all those confusing pranks. The first time parents, Peggy and Jeff Kehoe, were awestruck when they discovered that they were going to have twins. The day the twins were born was the happiest day of their lives.

They both had blue eyes, blonde hair and a smile that could melt your heart. The sisters were inseparable from day one and couldn’t stand being apart from each other, even for a single day.

But no one realized that life for this happy family was going to change forever very soon. On February 9, 2013, the couple found their daughter, Hailey, lying motionless on the bathroom floor.

The parents were scared to death seeing their beloved daughter like this. After realizing that they needed to act immediately, Jeff frantically called 911 and the 12-year-old was promptly taken to the nearby hospital. While at the hospital, the doctors discovered that the 12 year old had severe bleeding in her brain and was in dire need of medical assistance. After gaining permission from the parents to operate on the girl’s brain hemorrhage, the doctors gave them their full assurance that they would do everything they could to save her.

Jenna was beside her sister the entire time. Her mother said, “She held her hand and told her she needed to pull through this…because she could not live without her twin.”

The doctors discovered that Hailey was born with brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM). AVM is a condition that creates a tangle in the brain’s blood vessels and connecting arteries. There were even concerns that she might not even be able to wake up after the surgery, but like most things in life, Hailey had no idea what the future had in store for her.

Thanks to the well trained staff of Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital things gradually returned to normal. Within a few days after the surgery, Hailey finally opened her eyes.
