When it comes to footwear, the options are limitless and there is something for every occasion. However, we all need a comfortable pair of sneakers to pamper our feet in. The great thing about them though is that they can be your canvas to modify and personalize to your heart’s content. Here’s a short list of some cool and original ideas to turn drab into dramatic with just a little time and effort. Stuff your shoes with paper. Purchase jewel stones in varying sizes and start glueing them from the toes and out. If there are any gaps, just apply the smaller stones in. Let it dry and enjoy.

You’ll need gold acrylic paint, gold liquid gilding, Mod Podge, and a brush. Apply a coat of acrylic gold and allow shoes to fully dry. Next, paint a coat of liquid gilding and then apply a coat of Mod Podge to protect from tarnishing. Be sure to do this outside or in a space that’s well ventilated.

Create your own designs. Paint markers can be found at your local crafts store. Make sure you draw out your sketch in advance prior to coloring it on the actual shoes.

Find a base paint such as a light beige to paint for the background. Paint the borders in black and let it dry. Randomly add spots all over the shoes in brown, add black to go around them.

This is actually a lot simpler than it looks. Draw out the oxford design in advance. Let the ink dry. Paint and let it dry again.

Insert craft studs into the shoes. Use a pair of pliers to flatten the legs.

Soak your sneakers in tie-dye. Rinse them off at the sink. Put aside to dry.

Draw 2″ thick lines across both sides of each shoes. Each side has a total of 4 lines. Draw stars on the tongue and the back lining. Acrylic paint the lines in red and the outside of the stars in blue. Let it dry.

Using markers, color the shoes. Leave some areas white. Dip a paint brush in rubbing alcohol and spread the colors. Let it dry. Repeat the process of coloring the shoes with markers and spreading it afterwards.Use fabric paint to add the stars.

In a bowl, mix Mod Podge and glitter. Paint over the sneakers. Let the first application dry. Paint again and let it dry. The third coat should be to cover any missed or uneven spots.

Fabric paint and brushes of different sizes will be required.Your sketch can be as extensive as you want.

Only scissors are required for this project. Cut out the side panels and the tongue, ensuring you are leaving the stitches intact. Take out the cords for a more relaxed look.
