What if you could get your hands on a home that is valued at nearly $400,000, with a mere $150 investment? Well, one homeowner wants to make that dream a reality, making him yet another contributor to a growing trend that involves writing a 200-word essay and winning property and submitting a $150 fee. Michael Wachs insists that there’s no catch to winning his two-bedroom, 1,056 square foot house in Houston, but that he just wanted to put it “on the market” in a fun way. In fact, Wachs was inspired by the [Maine inn][1] owners who did the same thing. > We saw an inn in Maine was doing the same thing and thought it could work for selling our house, too. There’s no catch here, though, I’m a realtor, and my goal is to sell the house. Wachs initially spread the word by sharing the contest with about 300 friends, but soon after, his site crashed. The offer has since gone viral, which is a good thing: Wachs needs about 2,600 essays to make market value on his house. Want a chance to win? Check out photos of the ultimate prize below.
