Thrifters and flea market aficionados, imagine this scenario: For just under $50, you could spend 90 minutes searching through a massive warehouse of delicate porcelain, and your entry fee would get you anything you could carry. You’d walk away with a gorgeous collection of Japanese dishware — and have a lot of fun finding it, too. That’s exactly what you can do at the Kouraku Kiln in Arita, Japan. Founded in 1865, the kiln has been producing ceramics for the past 150 years. Needless to say, they have a surplus — in fact, the employees aren’t even really sure what’s in there. That’s why they’re allowing tourists to come in and “treasure hunt” to get rid of some of their stock.
