Most of us have seen the movie *Titanic*, the second grossing film of all time. It gave us a glimpse of what it might have been like to be on that voyage, but it was a romance and there was a lot that the movie didn’t cover. The tragedy still fascinates us even a hundred years later.
The crew woke the captain to tell him about the mysterious lights (flares) they saw in the sky, but he issued no orders. The ship Carpathia picked up all of the survivors. Some believe that if the Californian had responded, there would have been more survivors.
Leonardo DiCaprio’s character, Jack Dawson, claimed to have gone ice fishing on Lake Wissota near Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. That would have been impossible since the Lake Wissota (a man-made reservoir) didn’t even exist until 1917 and the Titanic sunk in 1912.
