It’s pretty refreshing to know that there are still good people roaming the Earth. It’s a hard life out there. It’s why random acts of kindness can make all the difference in the world. But one teenager from Toledo, Ohio, needed more than just sheer luck or a friendly gesture. The kid needed compassion, empathy, and lots and lots of food.

He was starting to get hungrier and hungrier, but the teen, along with his brother, couldn’t afford to buy food. Things got so bad, that he tried shoplifting in a 7-Eleven. But when an employee alerted the owner of the store, the man decided to lend him a helping hand instead of calling the police. It was turning out to be one of those nights for Jay Singh, the 7-Eleven owner from Toledo, Ohio. An employee had reached out to let him now they had spotted a teenager stealing goods. More often than not, the police would have to get involved so they can deal with the perpetrator.
He was curious to find out why he felt the need to take anything from the store. But when he asked him why he was stealing, he was taken aback by the teen’s response. “He said, ‘I’m hungry.

I’m stealing it for myself and my younger brother.’ I said you need food. I’ll give you food. That’s not a problem,” Jay explained.
So instead of calling 911, Jay decided to fill up a bag with free food, and help him out, if only for just one night. There are over 35 million people in the U.S.

who are going hungry at this moment. Even worse. They might not know where their next meal will be coming from.
Right at that moment, a 7-Eleven employee was on their way to call the cops.

But Jay told them to hang up the phone. He didn’t feel the need to get the police involved because, the way he sees it, having a criminal record would only complicate things for the teen.
But a customer by the name Cedric Bishop got to watch the whole interaction between Jay and the teenager, and he was really touched by Jay’s generosity, too.

“He went and started putting chicken drummies, sausage rolls, and a whole pizza and gave him a 2 liter,” Cedric explained, still overtaken by the beautiful moment he witnessed.

Jay hopes that the teen will let this moment inspire him to stay strong. No one really knows what the teenager’s going through in life. But Jay, Cedric, and pretty much anyone who was touched by the story is hoping his situation improves soon.

Cedric decided to help the teen out too and gifted him $10. He said, “Some young people just need to know that someone cares. Just thought I’d share this with you. Have a blessed night,” Cedric added.
