Too many people in this world believe that children aren’t capable of doing much of anything. Most people tend to think that just because someone is little, they can’t make a huge impact on the world. But honestly, nothing could be further from the truth. You may recognize the little boy in our story today from a few years ago, but wait until you see the big things he’s doing in his life now!Even though his father trusted him, he had no idea what he was getting himself into. One day, Ken’s father decided to follow him to see where he was spending his time.

While Ken was taking his dog for a walk, he began to notice that there were a lot of sick, stray dogs living on the streets. So Ken decided to do something about it.

He was feeding a bunch of stray dogs! Ken’s father immediately took pictures of his son’s good deed, and the Internet ate it right up.

“Some very kind people who saw these pictures donated money to help me care for the dogs. We got enough money to get the dogs I was feeding off the street, feed them high quality canned food, and provide them with veterinary care. They gained a LOT of weight, their open wounds healed, and their fur grew back,” said Ken

Ken wanted to open up a shelter for stray animals! “My dad told me it would take a lot of money and 20 years for me to get an animal shelter. He said only grown ups can raise enough money to start an animal shelter,” explained Ken. But his dad was definitely wrong!

Thanks to people’s donations, Ken was able to lease 10,000 square foot piece of property. He would call the non-profit, non-kill shelter the Happy Animals Club!

And it’s also the only functioning registered animal shelter in the region. Ken is doing amazing things for the animals in his community.

Unless it’s for a very good reason, like for health reasons, the animals are never kept in cages. “Our facilities have been designed to provide the animals as much freedom and comfort as possible,” said Ken.

“All animals are fed only premium dog or cat food. Fresh dog food is cooked every day in the Happy Animals Club kitchen,” explained Ken.

Ken wants to save every animal that ends up in the city pound. “The shelter’s mission is to make the animals happy, and as such the animals are treated with respect and love and afforded the best possible care, without compromise, to ensure that every animal is as happy as it can possibly be,”

He even took in a cow, and her calf, that were abused and dying. Ken truly is an animal savior!

So if your little one says they want to change the world, please remember that they can. Encourage them to do so. Encourage them to make the world a better place. In the words of the great Dr. Seuss, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
