Tensions are running high among police officers and regular civilians across the country. There is mistrust and misconceptions each group has towards each other. Not every civilian is there to break the law and not every cop is bad. As the nation tries to unite and support one another, there are still people who refuse to give police officers the benefit of the doubt. Officer Chuck Thomas of the Homestead Police Department in Pennsylvania had an uncomfortable encounter with a couple when he went to a local diner. Jesse Meyers, a server at Eat n’ Park had the difficult task of having to move a couple to a different table when they made it clear they did not want to sit close to the table where Thomas and three other officers were eating. The policemen admit they come across this situation once in a while and usually brush it off but this time him and his colleagues wanted to reach out with an olive branch.
