Jodi Frediani spent three weeks in Silver Bank, Dominican Republic as part of a ‘swim with humpback whales’ program. The Santa Cruz, California resident was on a boat with other people when two whales began swimming close to them. Without a moment’s notice, one humpback whale jumped out of the water, showcasing its impressive size, and crashed back into the ocean. The wildlife photographer had her camera ready to capture the moment the beautiful animal breached the water. The Silver Bank is a sanctuary for marine mammals; it is also a breeding and calving area for humpback whales.
