Stan Beaton lost his wife Ruby to stomach cancer when she was only 63 years old. One of the most precious remnants he had of her was an automatic voicemail message she created for their cellphone. He kept it for 14 years and refused to change cellphone carriers because he didn’t want to lose the sound of her voice. “In the early days [I listened to it] quite often.
