The application of stone in both the foundation of a home or as decoration goes back to the dawn of civilization. The pyramids in Egypt, Stonehenge in England, and even a city carved into the side of a mountain in Jordan are celebrated as the absolute best in stone building and carving. Artists Andreas Kunert and Naomi Zettl of [Ancient Art of Stone][1] are bringing this lost art to modern times. The Canadian duo has taken their talent to new heights by taking things like fireplace mantels and walls and turning them into works of art. Most of the stones used in their projects are found locally in Vancouver Island, British Columbia while others come from more exotic locales. Their rock collages and carvings showcase the incredible amount of time and painstaking effort to achieve incredibly unique pieces. Kunert and Zettl don’t just layer on the rocks but create a mosaic, featuring flow and harmony that mirrors earthy elements. [1]: http://www.ancientartofstone.com/
