Anxiety, depression, and other mental afflictions are often called invisible illnesses: We can’t see them, but that doesn’t mean that those who have them suffer any less. But since these illnesses are invisible, how can we illustrate them so people understand? How can you take something that’s simply a concept and turn it into something real? Well, that’s exactly what one photographer did, and the resulting images are incredibly powerful.
