Knitting is not dead, it has evolved. The ancient process of using two needles with wool yarn to make interconnecting loops has gotten a major makeover. Students at Switzerland’s École cantonale d’art de Lausanne, Damien Ludi and Collin Peillex have designed a low tech rocking chair that doubles as a knitting machine. When the *Rocking Knit*, rocks back and forth, the gears are activated to turn and pull the spool of yarn up to be looped into a winter cap. The design students were required to reconstruct a manufacturing process to a slower pace. The new rocking chair might be putting grandmas everywhere out of work.
