Battery Hens Get To Experience Sunshine For The First Time In Their Lives.

Battery Hens Get To Experience Sunshine For The First Time In Their Lives. April 1, 2023Leave a comment

Battery-caged hens live in spaces about the size of an 8×10 piece of paper, and never get a real, quality life. An Australian poultry farmer had a change of heart and allowed 752 hens to be released. Watch them as they feel the warm of sunshine for the first time in their lives at [Edgar’s Mission](http://www.edgarsmission.org.au/), a sanctuary for rescued farm animals. In the United States, Australia, and Europe, there is a growing movement to change these barbaric practices of housing chickens in small, overcrowded metal cages. [The Human Society](http://www.humanesociety.org/issues/confinement_farm/facts/guide_egg_labels.html) offers a fact sheet on how to read egg cartons so that you can buy eggs that support humane poultry practices and help to end cruelty.

First sunshine for 752 rescued hens If you’ve never seen an ex-battery hen take her first steps on soil, or feel the sunshine on her face for the first time – then this might be five of the most moving minutes you’ll ever see.Battery cages had not only prevented these hens from expressing normal and natural behaviours – but they denied them of any quality of life. Thanks to Edgar’s Mission, they learned to live – and love – a life full of all the things that make it worth living.
