I have a friend who is strikingly beautiful. Aside from her bubbly personality, she has these adorable freckles perfectly placed on her nose and cheeks. Recently, she admitted she was made fun of for her gorgeous freckles. In reality, freckles are nothing more than melanin spots on the skin’s surface. Freckles, depending on the time and region in the world, have been welcomed as beautiful and blessed. Other times, they have been dangerously associated with witchcraft and being cursed. Women and men have sought creams and laser treatments to ‘clear’ their skin only to have them reappear following exposure to the sun. Nowadays, freckles are in style; retailers are selling freckle pencils to create the youthful and natural look.
