Nine years ago, Robert Kugler of Broken Bow, Nebraska, adopted a little chocolate lab called Bella. They’ve grown to be close. In fact, they’re best friends. Recently, Kugler learned that she had contracted bone cancer. Even worse, it spread to her lungs. The veterinarian amputated one of her legs and informed Kugler that despite their efforts, the condition was terminal. She would probably have three to six months to live. It’s been over a year now, and she’s still here. The Marine vet decided to take his beloved four-legged friend on the ultimate road trip, beginning with a Marine Corps Ball last November. From there, they went on to swim in the beaches of Florida, soaked in the breathtaking views of Niagara Falls, and even visited the original Cheers bar in Boston. You can check out some beautiful photos of the duo that Kugler shared on social media below. The two will keep moving for as long as they can, and Kugler will be by her side to the very end.
