Almost everyone will recognize the electronic and ominous intro to New Order’s “Blue Monday,” the iconic dance hit that came out in 1983. But what would this amazing track sound like if it had been released 50 years earlier? Here, some incredible musicians from the mysterious Orkestra Obsolete, recreated the song, ditching the synths and speakers and only using instruments that are available in the thirties — including the theremin, musical saw, piano, and harmonium.
