Most parents claim that their children are angels. Others simply lie to themselves and everyone else because the truth is too hard to bare. But in the case of Mauco Abeiro, he truly is an angel. The 9-year-old is from Guaymallen, Argentina and he doesn’t have a whole lot in the way of material possessions. But he does have one thing he loves a lot and that’s his skateboard. On a day like any other, Mauco was minding his own business and doing what most boys his age do, which is play on the streets and sidewalks. But then he ran into someone and suddenly, he found himself in quite a pickle, not to mention a moral dilemma.Mauco was playing on the streets near his house with his younger brother when he noticed an injured dog. At a glance, it seemed that it had a broken leg and Mauco wasn’t willing to just ignore the pooch. So he decided to carry it home.

The family’s budget was super tight. So Mauco asked his mother to let him use her Facebook to sell his skateboard. He planned on using whatever money he received to pay for the vet to fix Rocco’s leg. He wrote, “Hi, I’m Mauco, son of Laura. She allowed me to borrow her Facebook because I don’t have one. Look at the puppy I found on the street. It’s sick and has a broken leg. We gave him food and a bath but it needs medicine. I’m selling my skateboard to take him to the vet. If anyone is interested in the skateboard, leave your number here and my mom will call you back. Thanks, Mauco.”

But he was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice in order to fix Rocco’s leg. Unfortunately, no one really showed much interest in buying Mauco’s skateboard, but people started sharing the post within a matter of day. Before long, the post had gone viral.

Fortunately, people who were more financially stable were willing and able to provide the monetary means to help Rocco get the help he so desperately needed. This meant that Mauco didn’t have to sell his skateboard after all. Now, as Rocco continues his journey towards a slow but steady recovery, he has become an invaluable part of the family.
