**We must put a stop to animal cruelty.** According to statistics gathered in 2007 from pet-abuse.com, dogs, cats, horses, and livestock are the most commonly targeted animals. Over sixty percent of these animals were dogs with 25% identified as pit-bull-type breeds. When the staffie-mix Caitlyn was rescued by the Charleston Animal Society (CAS) last July, she was found with her muzzle taped shut with electrical tape. “When we actually pulled the tape off, she kind of opened her mouth and screamed,” CAS Director of Anti-Cruelty and Outreach Aldwin Roman told BarkPost. Fortunately, thanks to the care, love, and support from CAS employees and volunteers, among many others, Caitlyn is making a great recovery. She is setting an amazing example of resilience for animals and people everywhere. **For the holidays, CAS together with Starbucks, Hyper Pet, Woof Gang Bakery, and BarkShop gave Caitlyn her best day ever, and she deserved every second of it (SPOILER ALERT: Looks like this little lady’s got a boyfriend!).**
