Linsey Pollak is an Australian musician, composer, director, and community music facility. He’s made over 31 albums, toured across the world, and established the Western Australia Multicultural Arts Center in his home country. He’s also a skilled instrument maker — so skilled, in fact, that he can create an instrument from the most unlikely resources. In the video below, Pollack turns a carrot — yes, a carrot– into a clarinet using only a drill, a small horn, and a saxophone mouthpiece. Better yet, he does it all in a matter of five minutes. Of course, at the end of it all, he gets a chance to play the carrot clarinet for his audience. Before you assume it’s all squeaks and flat notes, you’re going to want to check out the video below. This unusual DIY instrument produces a gorgeous tone you’ll have to hear to believe.
