At the famous Optina monastery, tradition is of the utmost importance. Every day, the Orthodox priest makes a small procession through the grounds — only this priest has a particularly interesting procession line in tow. Holding a cross and a lantern, the priest leads a line of cats through the grounds of the monastery, many cats joining in the procession as they walk along. It’s almost as if these cats understand what is happening and feel its their duty to be part of the tradition. Check out the video of these ceremonious felines below.
