Hurricane Irma just swept through Florida, leaving quite a bit of destruction in her wake. The anticipation of Irma kicked people into preparation mode. Residents of Florida rushed to stores to get their necessities, and those that were evacuating rushed to get enough gas for their trip. Jessica Lewis was one of those people that felt the need to leave the state. Since she was only in Florida for college, she needed to get to her family’s home in the nearby state of Georgia. While she wanted to leave right away, she had one more class she needed to attend, but first she had a strange request of her professor. She knew she needed to get her and her pup, Luna, out of the state as soon as possible. She had one more class to attend, so she asked her professor if Luna could go, too, to make things a little bit easier on her.
Luckily, her professor was a dog lover, and was happy to have her in class. Luna was excited, too!
She showed everyone love, and was a good girl the whole time. Even though she did cause a bit of a distraction.
“She was pretty well-behaved in class. She went straight to whoever was talking for the most part, like if someone was answering or asking a question,” said Lewis.
“She Just walked around and got pets from everyone and made friends. The really funny part was that every time the professor stopped and asked if anyone had questions or comments, she whined loudly like she was responding,” commented Jessica.
She was extremely well-behaved for the entire hour and fifteen minutes the class lasted for. Her mom must be so proud!
Jessica is very grateful for her professor, and believes he enjoyed having Luna there. “He was wonderful about it; he just laughed with us whenever she did something funny,” said Jessica.
