Everyone who has spent even a small amount of time on the Internet probably has a favorite GIF. Personally, I’m a fan of any GIF that features a goat. However, we don’t often associate GIFs with historical imagery – That is, until Nicolas Monterrat started making them. Monterrat is a French photographer an animator. On his Tumblr page, [Un gif dans ta guele][1] (“a gif in the mouth”), he animate historical photos, paintings, and other imagery. The results of his animation are light-hearted, bizarre, and hilarious, and the Internet is a better place for having them. Check out his wonderful work below.
