It’s not easy being a single parent. Often times it’s not just about being the sole provider in the home financially, emotionally, and physically, it also means wearing many hats to ensure the child is happy. Moms and dads who are doing it alone try to make up for the other parent’s absence but this is practically impossible. Yevette Vasquez is both mother and father to her son Elijah. Last week, she was driving her son to school in Fort Worth, Texas, when she noticed the parking lot was fuller than usual. She asked Elijah why there were so many cars that day, he told her it was a Donuts with Dad function. This was not the first time her son had to miss out on an activity meant for fathers and their kids. Yevette immediately drove back home but not to have Elijah miss the important event.
