The [Elephant Sanctuary](http://www.elephants.com/aboutSanctuary.php) in Hoenwald, Tennessee, is the largest elephant sanctuary in the United States. It’s mission is to provide a haven for old, sick or needy elephants who have been retired from zoos and circuses. It provides three separate and protected, natural-habitat environments for African and Asian elephants. The elephants do not perform or entertain for the public. Instead, they are allowed to live like elephants. It’s a true sanctuary, so human interaction, other than caretakers, is prohibited. For more information on how you can help support the elephants, check out The Elephant Sanctuary’s [website](http://www.elephants.com/index.php) and their [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/ElephantSanctuaryTN?v=wall) and [Twitter](https://twitter.com/elephantsdotCOM/).
