“If you want a friend in this world, get a dog,” said Harry Truman. And we couldn’t agree more. Anything we say regarding the loyalty of our beloved pet dogs would be an understatement, but we’ll try anyway. These furry friends are the epitome of unconditional love. They wait patiently for you to return home from work.
And when you leave to run errands, it feels like forever but even then, they don’t grow angry with you. Somehow, they know not to leave your side when you are feeling blue and they even “kiss” you affectionately to try and cheer you up. Your feelings become their feelings, too. We’ve heard many heartfelt stories of ever faithful friends such as the Akita dog Hachikō, who waited for his owner at the same spot every day even after his death. When there’s an emergency, you’re up against time so they decided to take the pooch along with them.
Thanks to their olfactory abilities, or their keen sense of smell, dogs can sense when our bodies are changing.
Some can detect certain illnesses, including diabetes and cancer. This pup must have known something was wrong with his human. While waiting for his human to undergo treatment, he waited outside.
By deciding not to separate the two, they were acknowledging their strong bond.
There was a possibility that the patient did not have anyone but the dog in their life.
They kept this little bundle of joy warm with a blanket.
He also enjoyed some snacks and fresh water.
“While he waited, he made himself at home near the ambulance bays, so we wrapped him up to keep him warm,” said Sarah Angelou, an apprentice paramedic. “He seemed very entertained by the passing ambulance crews and hospital staff and even managed to sneak a bite of our lunch!”
After a long wait, the owner and their loyal pooch were finally reunited.
The pup kept jumping and wagging his tail.
