In 2010, Officer Sam Brownlee was killed in the line of duty. He left behind two young sons. His son Tanner was just 15 when he died. Five years later, Tanner and his brother Chase had an opportunity to get one of their dad’s prized possessions: His Dodge Charger, which was being put up for police auction. The proceeds from the auction were going to go to the organization C.O.P.S., Concerns of Police Survivors, which provides services for families whose loved ones have died in the line of duty. The Brownlee family used their services when their father was killed. However, that wasn’t the only reason that Tanner, now 20, wanted to bid on his dad’s car a tthe auction. He also wanted he and his brother to have a small part of what remains of his father’s legacy. He created a GoFundMe page with the hopes of raising the money to bid on the car, but soon realized that their small amount of cash wouldn’t be able to compete at auction. Then, on the day of the auction, something incredible happened. Tanner didn’t win his father’s car – but what happened instead was even better.
