He Went Dumpster Diving To Prove A Point. What He Found Is Utterly Shocking. October 20, 2016

Environmental activist [Rob Greenfield](http://robgreenfield.tv/about/) traveled across America on his bike and he feed himself mostly by diving for food in dumpsters. He collected about 280 pounds of food to fuel him for 4,700 miles of cycling. Greenfield didn’t do this for his own needs, but to inspire us to stop throwing away so much food. Rob points out on his website that most grocery stores don’t donate their food because they fear liability but they are protected by the [Good Samaritan Food Act](http://foodshift.net/good-samaritan-food-act/). The stores benefit by getting tax write offs, spending less on dumpster fees, and they are helping their community when they donate excess food.
