Going to the circus used to be a popular thing for families, but circuses have been struggling to get people to come to their shows. Maybe it is the movies and video games that captured the attention of younger audiences and kept them away, but the reports of horrible animal cruelty at circuses didn’t help either. In 2015, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Baily decided to remove elephants from their shows which resulted in a decline in ticket sales. Some people were sad to see the elephants removed from the show while others continued to protest about the use of kangaroos, tigers, and horses. Two years later, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey decided to shut down after running for 146 years. Today, thanks to the actions of a few, things are looking up at the circus. This new kind of circus doesn’t involve real-life animals, but holographic ones!This is especially true when it comes to the animals that are used in the circus. Not only do they spend their lives serving humans, but they’re also exposed to extremely inhumane conditions.
The first, and most important, is their refusal to keep animals working in their circus. The other changes that they’ve made will absolutely blow your mind.
In the arena, you can experience interactions with holographic elephants, horses, and even a goldfish! Can you imagine seeing a holographic elephant charge at you from the wall?
But the animals mean more to them than the money they would receive because of their suffering. Roncalli’s agency TAG/TRAUM teamed up with Bluebox and Optoma to create the incredible 3D experience.
Birger Wunderlich from Bluebox said, “We have been using Optoma projectors for 6 years and have consistently had a very positive experience in price, performance, and reliability. We needed a high contrast projector with great colors for the 3D effect and the ZU850’s 2,000,000:1 contrast is perfect for this project.”
But once the founder, Bernhard Paul, realized the gravity of the situation, he invested $500,000 in using the holographic images instead. And he hasn’t looked back since.
Animals weren’t put on this Earth to serve us or entertain us. Animals deserve our respect, care, and protection, and thanks to Bernhard, there are fewer animals suffering on a daily basis.
