Grandmothers are awesome! They spoil us in ways our parents don’t. They bake cookies for us, and we can share our deepest, darkest secrets with them. They can even guide us when we’re going through a rough patch because they have a lifetime of wisdom to bestow on us. But when it comes to picking out gifts, let’s just say they really need our parents beside them to double check before they buy anything. Just ask one six-year-old who got what she thought was the coolest gift ever from Grandma. But what she ended up with was a book full of things that made her parents blush. This mom learned that not every bookstore offers content that’s on the parent-approved reading list. But boy was she shocked when her 6-year-old daughter opened the book grams got her.

Unfortunately, the family learned that some books can be very deceiving on the outside. But most of us would have been fooled too with the cutesy illustrations that are a-typical of any kid’s book.

Emmersyn’s mom, Tiffany, who’s 32, had a better understanding of what the content inside represented and she couldn’t believe that a kid’s book would have references to private parts, drugs, and lots of swear words.

She wasn’t upset by any means. In fact, she actually thought the whole thing was really funny. But she felt it was important to let other parents know to take a look inside the book before buying anything for your kids.

In fact, according to Tiffany, he couldn’t stop laughing, which suggests this book will probably stay on the top shelf for the adults to read until Emmersyn is old enough to read it.

Tiffany decided to call her mom, Geri, anyway and tell her about the book she had gotten for her granddaughter. The first thing she asked was, if she had actually opened it before she bought the book.

At first, Emmersyn’s parents were mortified, but ironically, the book is actually quite popular with folks on Twitter. And after this incident, they’ll likely fly off the shelves.

Fortunately, dad got a kick out of it, and in a sense, so did Tiffany, but it was still about as shocking as accidentally stepping on a blow fish at the beach.

This is something that Tiffany and her husband could totally relate to when their daughter walked up to them to ask what some of the words on the pages meant.

The tweet has been retweeted over 36,000 times and has been liked 96,000 times too. But Tiffany hopes that people can look past the humor and learn to check before buying anything for your kids.

We get that there are a lot of books out there that are meant to be funny, so most adults buy them as a gag gift. But maybe the bookstore should consider warning customers that certain books aren’t meant for kids before they buy them.

The book looked so cute that if you just concentrate on the illustrations you’d probably never even realize what your kids will be reading.

From the looks of it, grams assumed it would be something for her 6-year-old granddaughter to read, but you should never judge a book by its cover or its illustrations.
