Approximately 400 US soldiers had a layover at an airport in Shannon, Ireland, when businessman and philanthropist Shlomo Rechnitz noticed the men and women were about to eat their meals from paper sacks. Rechnitz was at the same terminal with his wife and children on his way to Israel. The Los Angeles resident decided to show the servicemen and women a small token of appreciation. He asked the commander if he could treat them all to a nice, warm meal like the regular passengers were enjoying. Initially, the commander declined the offer, telling Rechnitz the gesture was not necessary. After some convincing, the good samaritan paid $50 per the soldier to eat at any restaurant. That works out to be $20,000 in total. Rechnitz said he, “just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart.” Watch the video when he gives his gratitude to our men and women for the hard work they do.
