What’s the best thing to do when you’re sitting around a fire? Roast marshmallows, of course. A New Zealand man, Simon Tuner, did just that, but it wasn’t in front of a campfire, it was over a volcano spewing hot lava. Volcano expert Turner and award-winning photographer Bradley Ambrose descended 1,312 feet into the Marcum Crater in Vanuatu in the South Pacific. Afterward, Turner sat on the edge and roasted marshmallows while enjoying a beer. The lava lake’s temperature is over 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit so it doesn’t take long for them to cook. Turner said, “It ended up being one of the most perfectly cooked marshmallows I have ever tasted. Perfect and crusty on the outside without being burned. It had just the right amount of a gooey center, but without getting it all over your fingers.”
