It was a hot day in Florida when Jeff Longo found a tiny, newborn flying squirrel on a sidewalk. He knew it would die if it were left there any longer, so he picked the helpless baby up and took it home. Jeff spent the next three months caring for it full time by bottle feeding it every few hours, taking it to work with him, and basically being its mom. Many people told Jeff that the newborn’s chances of survival were slim since it was without its mother, also because Jeff isn’t a wildlife rehabilitator.
