Most people know about Burning Man, the weeklong art festival in the Nevada desert where dozens of massive sculptures are built, celebrated, and then burned to leave no trace. However, many are unfamiliar with the Las Fallas (Fire) Festival in Spain, which has been going on for over four decades. The festival takes place in Valencia, and during the celebration a series of large-scale sculptures are set on fire as part of the festivities. Last March, an artist named Manolo Garcia submitted his work to the festival for burning. His massive sculptures — both burned and unburned– are absolutely stunning.
