Jewel Warren was upset when she received a father-daughter dance invitation. Her dad Tim Warren was a police officer for the Memphis Police Department. He was killed in the line of duty in 2011. His widow, Betsy Warren, reached out to the police department to inquiry if an officer would be willing to take her daughter to the dance. The eight-year-old did not have one date but six officers dressed in uniform ready to party with her. In fact, other policemen wanted to attend as well but space was limited. The community also got involved in making the day special for Jewel. Local businesses donated the flowers, and photography. The police association donated money for the little girl’s dress. “We know we cannot replace Tim, but we can be there for his family when we are needed,” said Officer Amen, one of the attendees.
