Here’s Why Steve Harvey’s TV Show Got Canceled Or Did It? March 31, 2023Leave a comment

There’s no need to say that Hollywood has an incredible amount of drama surrounding it, and lately, it seems like there’s no one exempt from it either. Our beloved Steve Harvey is known for saying what’s on his mind, but this time he may have gotten himself into a bit of a pickle. As it turns out, Steve’s daytime show could possibly be looking at its last days and Steve is clearly not happy about it. If you’re a frequent visitor of the Steve Harvey Show, then keep reading because you might have to say goodbye very soon.Despite the fact that he was born with the first name Broderick, Steve Harvey is easily one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood. Born on January 17, 1957, Steve has been making people laugh, inspiring viewers, and creating controversy since the day he was born.

Steve Harvey can be seen playing hilarious roles in a number of movies, but as of late, he’s been showing that big bright smile on Family Feud since 2010. Not only does he make people laugh on the TV game show, but Steve can be seen in other places on daytime television, as well.

In case you didn’t already know, Steve has had his very own daytime television show for the past seven years! The Steve Harvey Show is a variety show that features the hottest celebrities in Hollywood being interviewed by, none other than, Steve Harvey himself. Things may have been looking good for Steve for awhile, but he’s been seeing a bit of negativity in his life lately.

In January, Steve had to jump to his wife’s defense after she received hateful messages for posting a video of her granddaughters. In the video, the little girls, who are cousins, were pretending to breastfeed their baby dolls. Some viewers didn’t like it at all, saying things like: “Men are watching these little girls. Stop. Now.” Just like Steve, fans jumped to her defense with comments like: “Leave them babies alone. There’s nothing wrong with this video, it’s the minds of the perverted. I think the video is cute.” But that’s not the only drama Steve has been involved in lately.

In February, Steve had the hilarious female comedian Mo’Nique on his talk show. On the show, Mo’Nique expressed that she felt like she was shut out of Hollywood once she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2010. After refusing to be pushed by producers to do more Oscar campaigning for the movie “Precious,” she was labeled as difficult by the exclusive Hollywood community. When she explained this to Steve, he told her to put her “integrity aside when there is money on the table.”

Mo’nique has come out publicly, saying that she feels betrayed by what Steve said to her. She feels that he should have spoken to her privately about the issue, especially since there weren’t any prominent Black people in Hollywood standing up for her. Steve Harvey is feeling exceptionally remorseful for speaking to her the way that he did in a public manner.

“I shouted out and it happened, I regret it, but I want young people, the kids that come to my camps, the young people that I mentor, the fans that really respect me, to know to just charge that one to my head and not to my heart. Because in my heart, that is not what I have asked anyone to do. I have lived my whole life as a man of integrity, and I will stand on that, but I was really just talking about the method that they went about doing what they did, and that was it,” he explained.

“I take full responsibility for it, it came out my mouth, so I can’t say that I didn’t say it. But to people that really know me, I have lived my whole life as a man of integrity. So when I was referring to ‘integrity’ in that interview, I was talking about the method in which things were being done, and that is all it was,” Steve said in an interview with People Magazine.

“I hate what’s happening to you. I hate what they’re saying that’s not true. I want them to know that you’re caring, that you’re a great mother, that you’re an incredible talent. I don’t like the fact that you’ve been blackballed. You’re too talented to have to worry about all this,” he said to Mo’nique.

Regardless of the recent video of his granddaughters, or his spat with Mo’nique, Steve has some bigger problems on his hands at the moment. And unfortunately, they have to do with the status of his daytime TV show.

As the headline speaker at the Variety Entertainment Summit on Wednesday, Steve made the startling announcement that he wasn’t sure if he was going to stay with the network since Kelly Clarkson’s new show has made the lineup. And he also made it very clear that he wasn’t happy about it.

“I thought I was, until they made an announcement a couple weeks ago that they wanted to give Kelly Clarkson the owned-and-operated NBC networks — that’s my slot. Don’t know if it sold, it’s not selling like they thought, but I thought it would have been nice of them to come to me — as the only dude who’s survived [in daytime TV] for seven years — about it,” Steve said at the Variety Entertainment Summit in Las Vegas at at the Aria Resort and Casino.

“You know, I’m an honorable guy. I’m just an old school guy, and I just thought that you’re supposed to just talk to people and just go, ‘Look, you’ve been good business for us. This is what we’re thinking of doing, are you OK with that?’ No, you just don’t put something in the paper and say, ‘I’m just going to make this move right here,’ because it’s crazy,” Steve continued.

Regardless of what Steve has said, a source told ET that Harvey and his agency, who co-produces Steve, were told well ahead of time that The Kelly Clarkson Show was going on the air. Steve has signed a contract for the 2018-2019 season, but Steve claims that daytime television is dying. “My show, Steve, is the only show in the last seven years in syndication that has stuck,” he commented.

Steve went on to explain that people are no longer watching television as they did before. Because of technology, people are watching when it’s convenient by recording the show. He also mentioned that hosting a talk show was hard on his health. When he was asked about Ellen DeGeneres’ comments about quitting her show, Steve said: “She’s the most popular person on television. I’m second. I want her to do what’s best for her health, and to do what’s best for that, because sometimes, man, you have to consider what’s best for your health. It’s extreme. My doctors have told me, ‘Hey, how long do you think you’re gonna do this?'”

So, what do you think? Is Steve going to stay with the network? It’s painfully obvious that he’s not happy with the way things are right now. “So when you do that, I gotta make announcements too…I’m working. It will be something real cute,” Steve said about the Kelly Clarkson announcement. Time will only tell what Steve has up his sleeve.
