Books can inspire individuals to dream big, aspire for something different or take a step off the beaten track. Such is the case for Dan Price who was so moved by [J. R. R. Tolkien’s][1], *The Hobbit*, he decided to forego his modern lifestyle and adopt the life of the book’s central characters, the hobbits; imaginary little people resembling humans, characterized by their simple life on the shire known for their good nature and hairy feet. Despite living a comfortable life with his wife and kids as a successful photojournalist in Kentucky, the urge to live his life differently was nagging at him. Finally, he decided to forgo everything for an underground living space in Oregon. His new living space is right out of the pages of his favorite book; an eight-foot hole with a roll out mat, books, dry goods, a pot and some clothes. Just from reading books, Price learned how to build a sauna, a heated shower and a toilet. To generate income, Price, aka Hobo Artist, has created [Moonlight Chronicles][2], a series of how-to guides and narration of how to live his lifestyle.
