Elephants are beautiful animals. However, if the gentle giants feel threatened or scared they will charge at people. Due to their large size and surprising fast speed, people can be crushed and killed in a matter of seconds. A tourist in Thailand was observing a wild elephant when it began charging towards him. The tourist might have been scared, but he did not run but he stood his ground and raised his palm up. The elephant realized it was not in any danger and left. Our natural response may be to run away but what this man did saved his life.
