There are a few exceptions to the rule, but experience has probably shown you that you either *are* a math person, or you most definitely are *not*. Some people are bad at math but try hard to be good at it, some people are bad at it and go out of their way to avoid it, and some people are actually pretty good at it but just hate it with the fiery passion of a thousand burning suns. We get it: Math can be pretty intense. Unfortunately, it’s almost always used to determine how well your brain is working, and your ability to solve math equations is often synonymous with your overall intelligence level. Take, for instance, this elaborate math equation, known across the Internet as the “Intelligence Test.” Some say that only true geniuses can solve this complicated equation, but we know the truth: Even if you can’t solve it, you can share it and pretend like you did!The test has been shared over three million times on Facebook. Look at it for awhile and try to figure it out. Can you see the solution here?

Here’s the basic question it asks, using a set of several equations: If 6 + 4 = 210, and 9 + 2 = 711, what is the rule to combine numbers? Can you find the pattern in these numbers?

Yeah, at first glance — we didn’t get it either. These kinds of equations can be really tricky.

But that doesn’t explain where that pesky first digit comes from, does it?

It’s actually a matter of simple algebra, but solving it can get a little dicey.
