If You See This Tattoo On Someone, This Is What It Really Means… April 1, 2023Leave a comment

As surprising as it may sound, the latest tattoo trend has nothing to do with a celebrity, or a famous image, or quote: It’s simply a punctuation mark. Semicolon tattoos are all the rage right now, and it’s not just about making some kind of mysterious statement that only the cool kids know about. The semicolon tattoos come with a message: there’s hope for people who are struggling with their mental health. The tattoo trend was first initiated by Project Semicolon and encourages people to draw or tattoo semicolons onto their wrists.

The organization’s website says this is because the semicolon is used when an author “could’ve chosen to end their sentence, but chose not to.” It’s a powerful statement, and makes a surprisingly awesome tattoo. Check them out below.

“A semicolon represents a sentence the author could have ended, but chose not to. That author is you and the sentence is your life.” ‘Cause there is just something more about this trend.

The semicolon represents a spot on a sentence where the author could have ended it, but didn’t. You are the author the sentence is your life. A photo posted by ♣♦ Jude Grassø ♠♥ (@a_day_too_forget) on Jun 28, 2015 at 2:56pm PDT.

Awesome post from @olishawyer with his new armart – “a semicolon where the author has the choice to end the sentence with a full stop, but decides to continue the story – my story isn’t over yet” #semicolonproject #anxiety #depression #suicide #life #onyamate A photo posted by Mark Pacitti (@dancingwiththeblackdog) on Jun 28, 2015 at 3:33am PDT
