Have you ever gone to a museum and gotten too close the artwork? At the Prado Museum in Madrid, they have an exhibit that showcases artwork you’re *supposed* to get close to, and **even touch.** Entitled “Hoy Toca el Prado,” (Touching the Prado) the exhibit includes 6 re-creations of classic masterpieces, all designed to be touched. The intention of this amazing installation is to allow blind or visually impaired patrons to “see” the classics by exploring with them with their hands. So, how do they create these interactive masterpieces?A new technique called Didu, uses 3-D printing technology create texture on the surface of the painting. Also, the exhibit isn’t just for the visually impaired:To insure that all visitors can experience the sensation of “seeing” the artwork, visually restrictive glasses are provided upon request.
