People who have lost a loved one often talk about wishing to hear that person’s voice, if only for a minute. An old voicemail, home video, or recording gets played over and over again. To feel the person’s presence and remember the tone of their voice, laughter, and even singing brings a moment of comfort in the midst of tragedy. Jared Buhanan-Decker and his wife Sharry were expecting their son together this year. Unexpectedly, Sharry died during childbirth. He watched the videos she posted of herself singing and playing the guitar on YouTube but he recently found new recordings. The only problem was that Jared did not recognize the format they were recorded in. The grieving husband took to Reddit to ask for help. “I just want to be able to hear her voice again,” he pleaded. He had no idea he was going to get the response he did in just a couple of hours.
