A true artist knows that anything can be turned into a canvas — even a slice of bread. Well, not all artists can harness bread’s creative powers, but one Japanese baker has done just that. She creates amazing “paintings,” only visible after you slice the loaf of bread and peer inside. This creative kitchen creator posts her work on Instagram under the name @konel_bread, and on each post she explains (mostly in Japanese) about her inspiration. Apparently, some of that inspo is derived from the creation of sushi rolls, an art in-and-of-itself that Japan both created and mastered. So how does she do it? Baking at home, she has her son film her efforts, separating out rolls of colored dough and arranging them into tubes. Those tubes bake together, and when you cut open the bread, voila! A picture-perfect moment in each and every slice. See some of her creations in the photos below.
