Japan’s New Maglev Train Reaches Speeds Over 300 Miles Per Hour. [Video]

Lucky train fans in Japan got to experience a super-fast maglev train for the very first time. One hundred passengers, who were chosen by lottery, climbed aboard during the test run of Central Japan Railway Company’s 311 mph train. The 27-mile route sped through between the cities of Uenohara and Fuefuki in the Yamanashi Prefecture. The train uses magnetic levitation so it floats above the the train tracks and minimizes friction which allows them to travel faster. The maglev train is due to be up and running by 2027 and will be faster than the fastest commercial train in the world, Shanghai Maglev Train, which reaches top speeds of 268 mph.
