On Friday, a top official from the Pentagon had a disagreement with Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. Apparently, the Pentagon has something to say about Biden’s claims that China isn’t really a competitor of the United States.

The Assistant Defense Secretary for Asia, Randall Schriver, was speaking to reporters when they asked about Biden’s comments. In response to the question, Schriver said: “I’ll stick with the language in our national security strategy and our national defense strategy, which identifies China as a strategic competitor.”

At the current time, Biden has been chugging along on the campaign trail in Iowa. On Wednesday, Biden pushed back against the idea that China is a major competitor of the United States on a global level.

According to sources, Biden reportedly said: “China is going to eat our lunch? Come on, man! The fact that they have this great division between the China Sea and the mountains in the East — I mean in the West. “

He continued by saying: “They can’t figure out how they’re going to deal with the corruption that exists within the system. They’re not bad folks. But guess what, they’re not competition for us.”

President Trump has had plenty to say in response to Biden’s comments. During an interview on Thursday with Catherine Herridge from Fox News, President Trump stated that Biden was just “naive” when it came to China.

During the interview, President Trump stated: “For somebody to be so naive, and say China’s not a problem — if Biden actually said that, that’s a very dumb statement.” We’ll see where this goes, but as of right now, Biden is on the campaign trail looking a little silly.

This certainly isn’t the first time that Biden has put his foot in his mouth with absurd comments. Biden has continuously faced criticism over his past actions and comments in Ukraine, including him boasting on video that he pressured the country to fire its top prosecutor, who just so happened to be the leading the corruption investigation of the natural gas company that employed his son Hunter Biden.

After encouraging Biden to explain the entire situation, Trump said: “I’m hearing it’s a major scandal. They even have him on tape, talking about the prosecutor — and I’ve seen that tape. They have to solve that problem.”

In regards to the truth about the trade agreement with China, President Trump said: “Well, we are very close to a deal with China. But it’s a question of whether or not I want to make it. I mean we’re going to make either a real deal, or we’re not going to make a deal at all. And if we don’t make a deal we’re going to tariff China, and that’ll be fine. We’ll — frankly we’ll make a lot of money.”
