Most people have a hard time living with a serious illness. They tend to feel depressed and helpless. However, some people deal with their problems in a positive way like 25-year-old Jodi Ann Bickley. After suffering from a mini stroke and a brain infection known as encephalitis, she was no longer able to work. With some extra time on her hands Jodi decided to start writing uplifting letters to complete strangers that were dealing with problems of their own. She started [One Million Lovely Letters](http://onemillionlovelyletters.com/), a website soliciting people with problems to contact her for a letter of comfort. By encouraging others, it’s actually helped Jodi make through the rough days herself.
“I was getting letters back from people saying,’You might not realize this, but those words that you wrote on that little piece of paper actually saved my life,’” she said. “It’s really nice to be that ear for people and have that connection. It’s been incredible.”
