When you live in the country, you’re able to witness things that people living in the city wouldn’t normally be able to experience. You can fall asleep to the calming sounds of the crickets talking to one another. You can witness a deer drinking from a brook. If you’re lucky enough, you may even be able to watch a mama bear taking care of her cubs; although, you’d want to do that from quite a distance away. When you live in the country, you’re able to share in the glorious beauty of the miracles of nature. Recently, an extremely lucky photographer was able to experience a very rare occurrence that most people would be envious of.The property he lives on borders a nature reserve, so he’s pretty used to seeing different types of wildlife cross through his yard. One morning, something out of the ordinary happened.

“It was right near dawn. I heard some noises; it was like something scrambling on the deck,” said Tim. He immediately went to investigate the noise.

When he looked out his curtain, he couldn’t believe what he was looking at. “Right there, 2 feet away, was a lynx kitten. He was sitting there watching his siblings race by,” explained Tim.

There were three or four lynx kittens running amok on his front porch! “They were running back and forth, pouncing on each other.I started snapping away. I thought, ‘Wow! What incredible luck. This just beats all,'” said Tim.

Lynx are normally very hesitant about being around people. Tim had only ever seen them in the wild, and only a handful of times.

After a few minutes, the lynx ran off of his porch and began playing in the grass. Tim heard their mother meowing from the place they ran to.

Tim was hiding behind his screen door the entire time the lynx were around. He assumed they didn’t know he was there, and that’s why they were so comfortable with being there.

After snapping a quick picture, Tim moved the camera from his face, exposing his eyes. “The look of terror on that kitten’s face! His eyes were wide open, and he just flew away from me! But the others didn’t pick up on it,” said Tim.

All of the lynx gathered together in the same spot, and Tim took a beautiful family portrait! That didn’t last too long, though.

“For the next 40 minutes, they all played on my deck. They were chasing each other, rolling and wrestling,” said Tim.

“She has her hands full. I’ve concluded that lynx must spend 1 percent of their waking lives chasing rabbits, and 99 percent chasing their kids,” Tim said.

Tim described his experience as some sort of miracle. “It makes me feel thankful — thankful for where I live. I’m thankful to have seen these lynx up close,” he explained.
